Electric cars have very high torque (starting speed), are very quiet, and have a very measured range that we need to keep an eye on. Additionally, they weigh more than conventional cars (due to their batteries), so their tires must meet these requirements.

Now we know the reasons why we should pay attention to the characteristics of the tires when it comes time to change them on our EV.

For this comparison, a popular size for some electric SUVs or cars was chosen, with 19-inch diameter wheels: 235/55R19. What are we looking for? First, that the tires have low rolling resistance, good wet grip, and are as quiet as possible. Finally, that they can support extra load.

For the selection of some of the best tires for electric cars and SUVs, we used the values from the European Tire Label, where we analyzed several models that meet speed requirements (V, W, Y) and a load capacity of 925 kg/wheel (load index 105). Additionally, all models are XL or have extra load capacity.

Next, we will see tire models from four premium brands and four mid-range brands, which will allow us to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each tire, focusing on key aspects such as energy efficiency, wet grip, and noise.
